عثر خفر السواحل الأمريكي على حطام طائرة تُستخدم في الأغراض الطبية قبالة سواحل جزيرة نانتاكيت في ولاية ماساتشوستس.
وذكر متحدث باسم خفر السواحل في بيان أمس أن الإدارة الاتحادية للطيران أبلغت خفر السواحل بأنها فقدت الاتصال بالطائرة، وهي من طراز جلف ستريم وكانت متجهة من برمودا إلى بوسطن.
وقال وزير النقل الكندي ستيفن ماكينون: “إنه جرى تحديد موقع حقل حطام تأكد ارتباطه بالطائرة المفقودة”، مضيفاً أن أربعة كنديين كانوا على متنها.
فيما أشار خفر السواحل إلى أن الراكبين الآخرين يحملان الجنسية البرمودية، مضيفاً أن عمليات البحث ستتواصل قرب نانتاكيت، وهي جزيرة تقع جنوبي البر الرئيسي لولاية ماساتشوستس.
The U.S. Coast Guard has found the wreckage of a plane used for medical purposes off the coast of Nantucket Island in Massachusetts.
A spokesperson for the Coast Guard stated in a statement yesterday that the Federal Aviation Administration informed the Coast Guard that it had lost contact with the plane, which is a Gulfstream model and was en route from Bermuda to Boston.
Canadian Transport Minister Stephen McKinnon said, “A debris field has been located that has been confirmed to be associated with the missing aircraft,” adding that four Canadians were on board.
The Coast Guard noted that the other two passengers hold Bermudian nationality, adding that search operations will continue near Nantucket, an island located south of the mainland of Massachusetts.
