The Holy Makkah Library has revived pages from the cultural and intellectual memory through the interactive knowledge exhibition “In the Memory of Saudi Journalism,” organized by the Haramain Center for Culture and Enrichment. It opened a window to a collection of rare artifacts, manuscripts, and books that hold within their details witnesses of history and a legacy of knowledge that spans across different eras.
The exhibition took its visitors on a journey through the treasures of the library, revealing rare items that combine historical value with the aesthetics of craftsmanship. Among the highlights was a unique Quran executed in a striking artistic manner, as it was hand-embroidered with needle and thread on a piece of fabric and leather made from deer skin. This historical gift from Sheikha Zainab Sheikh Ali Jawhar from the Republic of Djibouti dates back to the year 1431 AH, in a rare piece where the sanctity of the text coexists with the precision of manual work and the beauty of its details.

The tour also revisited the history of the Kaaba’s covering and its transformations through the ages, showcasing different stages of its history and the diversity of fabrics and colors it has witnessed, from before Islam, through the prophetic era and the times of the caliphs and Islamic states, leading to the black color that later settled and became the established visual image of the Kaaba’s covering.«ذاكرة الصحافة السعودية» تستعرض كنوز مكتبة الحرم المكي

The Saudi memory was present in the corridors of the library through a collection of rare manuscripts and books dedicated to the founder of the Kingdom, King Abdulaziz bin Abdulrahman Al Saud, may God have mercy on him. These artifacts carry historical, cultural, and documentary value, and they revive a part of the relationship between books and knowledge during an important phase in the history of the Kingdom.
Among the manuscripts, books, and rare pieces, the tour transcended mere observation to evoke the history of the place and the knowledge it has accumulated, emphasizing the importance of preserving these treasures, documenting them, and introducing them to new generations, as they are an integral part of the national cultural and intellectual memory.
The visit concluded at the “Tree of the Nation” corner, where attendees wrote expressions of loyalty and pride in the Kingdom on the occasion of Saudi National Day, in a scene that combined the memory of the place with the memory of the nation, and between a history preserved by artifacts and a present documented by word and image.«ذاكرة الصحافة السعودية» تستعرض كنوز مكتبة الحرم المكي
