ضرب زلزال بقوة 6.1 درجات جنوب بنما، أمس، دون ورود تقارير عن سقوط ضحايا أو وقوع أضرار مادية. وأفادت هيئة المسح الجيولوجي الأمريكية أن الزلزال وقع على عمق 10 كيلومترات، وعلى بعد نحو 18 كيلومتراً غرب بلدة ريو جراندي في جنوب البلاد.
وجاء الزلزال بعد هزتين أرضيتين قويتين بلغت قوتهما 7.7 و6.6 درجات، أعقبتهما سلسلة من الهزات الارتدادية، ضربت بعد ظهر (الجمعة)، وتسببت الهزات في انهيار مبان بالقرب من مركز الزلزال، ودفعت إلى عمليات إجلاء في أنحاء البلاد.
A 6.1 magnitude earthquake struck southern Panama yesterday, with no reports of casualties or material damage. The U.S. Geological Survey reported that the earthquake occurred at a depth of 10 kilometers, about 18 kilometers west of the town of Río Grande in the south of the country.
The earthquake followed two strong tremors measuring 7.7 and 6.6 in magnitude, which were followed by a series of aftershocks that hit in the afternoon (on Friday), causing buildings to collapse near the epicenter and prompting evacuation operations across the country.
