وبدأت خيوط الدراما في ساعات الفجر الأولى، عندما تلقت أجهزة الطوارئ اتصالاً استغاثياً درامياً من الزوج مارك كين (45 عاماً)، ادعى فيه تعرض المنزل لسطو مسلح مفاجئ، مشيراً إلى أنه استبسل في مواجهة «مقتحم مجهول» في الطابق السفلي وتلقى منه جروحاً، بينما كانت زوجته نائمة في الأعلى.
لكن المحاكاة المزيفة وسيناريو البطولة الوهمية سرعان ما تهاويا أمام خبراء الأدلة الجنائية، إذ كشف تقرير التشريح الطبي أن الجروح التي حملها الزوج لم تكن سوى خدوش سطحية مفتعلة لتضليل التحقيق، في حين تعرضت الطبيبة الراحلة لضربات غادرة قاتلة بفأس على الرأس وضغط شديد على الرقبة أودى بحياتها فوراً، دون تسجيل أي أثر لدخول قسري أو اقتحام خارجي للمنزل.
وأفادت التحقيقات البشعة بأن الجاني استغل استغراق زوجته في النوم ووجود طفليهما مع أصدقائهم الصغار في الطابق السفلي ليجهز عليها بدم بارد، قبل أن يعيد تمثيل جريمته للمحكمة عبر الشاشة من سجن «نورويتش» وهو متجرد من أي مشاعر، ليتم تقرير إيداعه الحبس الاحتياطي في انتظار جلسة النطق بالحكم النهائي.

The gruesome investigations indicated that the perpetrator took advantage of his wife’s deep sleep and the presence of their children with their little friends in the basement to coldly execute her, before reenacting his crime for the court via screen from “Norwich” prison, stripped of any emotions, leading to the decision to place him in pre-trial detention pending the final sentencing session.
