ميدان الكرة الأرضية.. أيقونة جدة تتبدّل ملامحها مع نبض المدينة – أخبار السعودية
تحوّل ميدان الكرة الأرضية في جدة إلى لوحة فنية نابضة تعكس إيقاع المدينة واحتفالاتها المتجددة، حتى بات المارّون من حوله يتابعون من خلاله أبرز المناسبات والفعاليات، من انطلاق «موسم جدة» بهويته البصرية المميزة، وصولاً إلى إعلان استضافة المملكة كأس العالم 2034. فمع اقتراب سباقات الفورمولا، يتزيّن الميدان بتصاميم مستوحاة من خوذات السائقين، بينما يكتسي في رمضان وعيد الفطر أجواءً روحانية واحتفالية دافئة. وفي اليوم الوطني ويوم التأسيس ويوم العلم، يتلألأ باللون الأخضر وترفرف حوله الأعلام، ليصبح رمزاً للفرح والانتماء. أما في «ساعة الأرض»، فتُطفأ أضواؤه بالكامل في رسالة تضامن مع المبادرات البيئية العالمية.
ويعد الميدان، الذي افتتح عام 1982، معلماً يجسد انفتاح المملكة على العالم، ومركزيتها كحلقة وصل بين القارات. ويمتد ميدان الكرة الأرضية على مساحة 6,915 متراً مربعاً بقطر 94 متراً، وتتكون الكرة الأرضية بارتفاع 13 متراً وقطر 26.5 متر من الزجاج والأسمنت المدهون.
The Globe Roundabout in Jeddah has transformed into a vibrant artistic display that reflects the rhythm of the city and its renewed celebrations, allowing passersby to follow the most significant events and activities through it, from the launch of “Jeddah Season” with its distinctive visual identity, to the announcement of the Kingdom hosting the 2034 World Cup. As the Formula races approach, the roundabout is adorned with designs inspired by drivers’ helmets, while during Ramadan and Eid al-Fitr, it takes on a warm spiritual and festive atmosphere. On National Day, Founding Day, and Flag Day, it sparkles in green, with flags fluttering around it, becoming a symbol of joy and belonging. During “Earth Hour,” its lights are completely turned off as a message of solidarity with global environmental initiatives.
The roundabout, which opened in 1982, is a landmark that embodies the Kingdom’s openness to the world and its centrality as a link between continents. The Globe Roundabout spans an area of 6,915 square meters with a diameter of 94 meters, and the globe itself, standing 13 meters tall and with a diameter of 26.5 meters, is made of glass and painted cement.
