The “Yemen Dawn” operation continued on Friday with airstrikes targeting sites belonging to the Houthi militia, focusing on areas in the provinces of Saada and Sana’a, amid reports of explosions in Amran. This follows a day of a series of airstrikes described as the fiercest, targeting military sites and gatherings in several provinces.
Military sources reported that warplanes launched strikes on areas in the districts of Kitaf and Al-Buqaa in Saada province, the main stronghold of the Houthi group in northern Yemen. They confirmed that other airstrikes targeted sites in Sana’a, while the sound of explosions was heard in Amran province, believed to be the result of airstrikes targeting Houthi sites. The immediate toll of casualties resulting from the new airstrikes was not clear.
The new escalation came after a day that witnessed a series of intensive airstrikes targeting Houthi gatherings and camps in the provinces of Al-Bayda, Ibb, Marib, and Al-Hudaydah. The strikes targeted military reinforcements belonging to the group that were en route to the front lines in Taiz province and its countryside.
In the latest official tally, the Yemeni armed forces announced yesterday evening (Thursday) the execution of 1,729 precise targeting operations against military sites and objectives belonging to the Houthis across various fronts. The official spokesperson for the armed forces, Colonel Majid Al-Nazili, stated that the operations resulted in neutralizing 1,370 Houthi elements, in addition to destroying and disabling 300 vehicles and military equipment.
Al-Nazili reported in a statement published by the media center of the Yemeni armed forces that the targets included observation points, advanced command and control centers, weapon storage facilities, and supply sites for military reinforcements. He added that government forces used what he described as “special and modern” weapons in carrying out some of these operations. He confirmed that the targeting operations are part of the ongoing “Yemen Dawn” operation against the group’s sites on various fronts.
The coincidence of airstrikes with ground operations and the intensified use of drones reflects the widening scope of military confrontations, especially in areas where government forces have recently made advances. The provinces of Saada, Sana’a, and Amran, along with the fronts in Taiz and the western coast, remain among the prominent areas witnessing military movements in the current escalation.
